In the wake of a 'Twitter handle' controversy that famous politician Shashi Tharoor and wife Sunanda Pushkar are caught up in, here is a list of famous politicians from around the world who split from their partners.

Shashi Throor: Sunanda Pushkar, Tharoor's wife of three years accused Tarar of stalking her husband and trying to "break" her marriage when she was away for treatment for three to four months. Later, the couple issued a statement on Facebook stating that they are a very happy couple and intend to remain so.
Tharoor, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Member of Parliament from the Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala, as well as an author and a columnist first married Tilottama Mukherji. After divorcing Tilottama, he married Christa Giles and divorced her before marrying his long time friend Sunanda Pushkar.
Francois Hollande: Francois Hollande's famously infamous love life involving his partner of 30 years and mother of four children Segolene Royal and twice-married 48-year-old journalist Valerie Trierweiler has been making more headlines recently. The situation got more complicated when Closer magazine linked him with French actress and producer Julie Gayet.
Eliot Spitzer: In December 2013, former New York Governor announced split with wife of 16 years Silda Wall Spitzer . The couple has remained tight-lipped about their separation.
Strauss Kahn-Anne Sinclair: Anne Sinclair, who stood by the ex-IMF-chief Strauss Kahn during allegations of rape and prostitution against him, finally ended their 20-year-long marriage in mid 2012.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: The actor and politician and his author wife filed for divorce and ended their 25 years long marriage in July 2011 after Maria Shriver found out about Arnold's alleged extramarital affair and lovechild with their maid.
Vladimir Putin: The fourth and current President of Russia, separated from his wife of 30 years, Lyudmila on 07th Jun 2013. While an official divorce has not been filed by the couple yet Putin would become Russia's first separated leader since Peter the Great forced his wife to become a nun in 1698.
Silvio Berlusconi: The former Italian PM divorced his first wife Carla Elvira Dall'Oglio and later married Veronica Lario in 1990. In May 2009, Lario filed for divorce from Carla Elvira Dall'Oglio.
Rupert Murdoch: Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of News Corp has filed for divorce from his 3rd wife of 14 yrs, Wendi Deng, adding personal turmoil to the most turbulent era in the billionaire media tycoon’s 60-year career.
