According to sources, Chiranjeevi was going to join the BJP before the elections took place, but Congress put him in charge of the election campaign in AP, so he dropped the idea. Also, his brother Pawan Kalyan sent feelers to his brothers and asked him to join BJP after he became close to Narendra Modi and the TD-BJP alliance. Reportedly, Chiranjeevi responded positively to his invitations.
Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu arranged meetings between the brothers and Modi, and is mediating to get Chiranjeevi into BJP. BJP might be looking to strengthen its roots in Andhra Pradesh with figures like Kalyan and Chiranjeevi.
Many believe that it will take Congress another 10 years to come back into limelight, so joining the BJP will make sense for Chiranjeevi, a source said. They added that if everything goes according to plan, the actor and politician will announce his decision soon.
