Stating that the Centre was equally committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman, on Saturday said that the Centre would help both the States in industrial development. Sitharaman, who came to the city for the first time after becoming the Union Minister, was accorded a warm reception by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders at Shamshabad Airport.

Later, speaking to media at the party office, she felt that with the formation of Telangana State, opportunities for the local youth immensely increased and there was much scope for creating employment. “We need to provide necessary training to the youth for skills development. The Centre’s aim is to develop all the States on the lines of Gujarat,” she stated. The Union Minister said emphasis would be laid on promoting food processing industries in Telangana.

“Our policies will be guided by our election manifesto and the Centre will take steps to bring back black money stashed in foreign countries. Expressing concern over the growing atrocities on women, she said the government would take effective steps to curb violence against the women. She also said that the government would formulate new foreign trade policy.

On the issue of FDI in Retail, the Union Minister held that it would be in accordance with the promises made in the manifesto.
Sitharaman will attend the swearing-in ceremony of N Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister at Nagarjuna Nagar in Guntur district on Sunday.
