Hyderabad: The minor girl from Karnataka aged about 4 yrs who fell into a borewell has remained entrapped for almost 2 days. The rigorous rescue operations under taken to save the child went in vein; the girl was found dead when the team retrieved her from 26 feet depth late on Thursday night at 10 p.m.

In the afternoon on Thursday, both the members of the rescue team as well as district incharge minister MB Patil have lost the hopes and made it a mention that the chances of the girl's survival were dim. The arduous rescue operation that began at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday has last for almost two days. The rescue operation was coordinated by several teams, hampered by the presence of hard rocks and intermittent rain and driven only by hope.

It was said that the body already started decomposing indicating that the child lost her life as soon as she fell inside the borewell. A parallel whole was dug and later drilled a horizontal tunnel to reach the girl, who met with the tragedy while she was following her father, a labourer in the farm. Iron shafts were inserted under the spot where Akshata was stuck to prevent her from sliding down further, officials said.

The family of Akshata and the entire villagers broke out knowing the sad demise of the kid. The dead body was shifted to Bijapur district hospital for post-mortem following which it will be handed over to Hanumant Patil, Akshata's father for cremation.
