Train Fare Hike Soon!!, NDA Government. The NDA government at the Centre is all set ready for the hike of train fares in the name of reforms. In addition to this, FDI in railways is likely to be welcomed by the government. A final decision will be arrived at in 2-3 days, said Sadananda Gowda, the Union Minister for Railways.

It is likely that the fares will be increased by 14.2% while goods train fare will be increased by 6.5% as proposed by the Railway Board. The same will be put forward before Modi, the Prime Minister of India. A decision will be taken well before the introduction of Railway Budget in the Parliament, scheduled in the first week of July.
The FDIs were intended for the development of Railways, added Sadananda Gowda. He envisaged the development of High Speed trains and Railway Stations with the FDIs.
