New Delhi: Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati is expected to send a detailed response to the Telangana Government in a week’s time, after examining the memorandum submitted to her by Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao.
According to the Water Resources Ministry on Tuesday, key issues were raised in the Telangana Government memorandum like fresh allocation of waters for River Krishna, including for drinking water to Hyderabad and National Project status for Pranahita-Chevella Project.
The Telangana Government delegation led by State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday sought fresh allocation in Krishna waters as the Bachchawat Award in 1973 and Brajesh Kumar Award in 2013 have become dated, since separate allocation has to be made for the newly-created State of Telangana. A detailed memorandum was submitted to the Water Resources Minister by the Telangana delegation.
It raised various issue related to sharing of river water with neighboring States and demanded Centre’s intervention on some of the issues. Harish Rao had also requested for a detailed meeting on the issue, a Ministry official added.
