Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Wednesday said he was hopeful that the Congress would support the passing of the Black Money Bill that will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha today, the last day of the Budget Session.

"The Lok Sabha has passed the legislation on black money and has sent it to the Rajya Sabha which has been assented there. There was a common consensus that we should come harsh on black money. The government has brought legislation. It has to be passed in the Rajya Sabha when it gets the assent from the President," Rudy told ANI.

"I am sure that the opposition will be on board because this was a major issue for the previous government and this government was committed to bring legislation and I hope that since it is the last day of Rajya Sabha," he added.

The Bill, which provides for penalty and tax up to 120 percent along with criminal prosecution for those who have parked black money abroad and provides for rigorous imprisonment of up to 10 years for offenders, was passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
