Swiggy, India’s fastest growing food delivery company has announced its partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, one of India’s leading not-for-profit organizations. As part of this partnership, Swiggy has committed a share of its entire revenue from orders placed on its site, on independence day with Akshaya Patra. This will contribute to the meal program being run by Akshay Patra Foundation and ensure 200 Children will be fed for an entire year.

As part of this partnership, Swiggy has committed a share of its entire revenue from orders placed on its site, on independence day with Akshaya Patra. This will contribute to the meal program being run by Akshay Patra Foundation and ensure 200 Children will be fed for an entire year.


By implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in Government schools and Government aided schools, Akshaya Patra aims not only to fight hunger but also to bring children to school. This program has grown from feeding 1500 children in 2000 to over 1.4 Million Children currently.

Speaking on the initiative, Nandan Reddy, Co-Founder, Swiggy said “We were very impressed with the sterling work that Akshay Patra is doing with over 1.4 million children across the country. Their philosophy of bringing children healthy and nutritious food , while further drawing them towards education appeals to our conscience. Hence, we took a decision to contribute a percentage of revenue from orders placed on our site on Independence Day, to Akshaya Patra Foundation. We look forward to working with Akshay Patra Foundation and do hope that our association grows and flourishes over the coming years.”

Founded by Sriharsha Majety, a BITS Pilani and IIM-C alumnus, Nandan Reddy, BITS Pilani alumnus and Rahul Jaimini, an IIT-Kharagpur alumnus, Swiggy key offering is delivering food from the best restaurants in a neighbourhood to the customer’s doorstep.Swiggy has its own fleet of delivery personnel equipped with smartphones who pick-up orders from restaurants and deliver to customers.

Swiggy had recently raised $ 2 Million from SAIF Partners and Accel Partners. The funds are being used to hire aggressively and expand the coverage across the top 10 cities in India before the end of the year.
