Aligarh (UP): Cracking the whip in a case of alleged nepotism, Aligarh Muslim University has revoked the admissions of three candidates, including the son of a top varsity official, to its Business Administration department.

According to a varsity spokesperson, the action was taken over complaints of "irregularities" committed by the trio to secure their seats in the prestigious course in the faculty of Business Administration.

"Vice Chancellor Lt General (retd) Zamir-uddin Shah revoked the admissions of three persons, including the son of a top official in the department of examinations and admissions, after receiving complaints that they were the beneficiaries in this case of alleged nepotism," said AMU spokesperson Dr Rahat Abrar.

However, the spokesperson dismissed reports that the official concerned, whose son's admission has been cancelled, had stepped down or been asked to resign.
