Gurgaon/Mumbai : Gangster Sandeep Gadoli, who was carrying a reward of Rs. 1.25 lakh, was killed in an encounter with the Gurgaon Crime unit on Sunday here.

A team of Gurgaon city crime branch had come in search of Gadoli, who was residing in a hotel in Andheri East.

When the police team entered his room, there was cross firing between the accused and the police men.

"I think they were using Mumbai as their hideout," Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Virk told the media here.

Gadoli was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two policemen were also injured in the incident.

"A team of Crime Branch Gurgaon Police reached hotel to arrest the accused. There was cross fire in this and the accused was injured. The accused was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries," said Director General of Police (Mumbai) Vinayak Deshmukh.
