To instil awareness about traffic rules amongst youngsters, Traffic Police, Gurgaon, in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki, organized the 'Gurgaon Road Safety Mega Festival 2015-16,’ in which a team comprising of Dhruv Pratap Singh Yadav, Aakriti Bansal and Rishika Deswal from THE NORTHCAP UNIVERSITY, Gurgaon bagged the first prize in Level IV (College and above). The students were awarded the first prize by Samar Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) at the prize distribution ceremony held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium Sec 38, Gurgaon. T.L.Satyaprakash, the Deputy Commissioner of Guragaon also graced the occasion.

The Road Safety Mega Festival 2015- 16 was a three month long festival with the aim to develop a culture of road safety among youth. More than 4 lakh students from over a thousand schools and colleges participated in the quiz. The quiz was focused towards inculcating traffic sense among young children. The quiz competition was held for 4 categories.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Samar Pratap Singh said, “We have organized this competition to instill traffic sense among the children and the youth. Our ceaseless effort to inculcate traffic etiquettes among the people of Gurgaon had brought little success so we thought of creating awareness among the youth, so that when they take the wheels they not only become safe drivers but also set example for their elders.

Congratulating the students,Dr. Hukum Singh, Associate Professor.(The NorthCap University) said, “Road accidents are responsible for a large number of deaths. It has been witnessed that youth suffer the most in road accidents and road rage. Such campaigns not only instill traffic sense among youths rather they help them grow in a responsible citizen. I am delighted that students of The NorthCap University have won the first prize in their category.”

Speaking at event the Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon T.L. Satyaprakash said, I am delighted to see the awareness of the young generation. Such events should increase, more and more corporate houses should come forward to facilitate such awareness drives. Road accidents result in huge loss of life and this can be mitigated with such campaigns.”

Member of the winning team Aakriti Bansal said, “I understand the importance of road safety and the need for such awareness drives. I am glad to have won the award though at the time of participating I had thought of being the part of the campaign to increase awareness among those close to me.”
