The Congress faces serious test as the two states ruled by it are expected to deliver not so pleasant verdict for it. If it happens, the Congress’ ability to rally other Opposition parties may be seriously undermined.

Can the Left stem its decline? The relevance of Leftists is under question as it eagerly awaits the verdict in Bengal and Kerala. The Modi government is handicapped by lack of majority in the Rajya Sabha. Will the mandate in these states alleviate its problems or further aggravates its inconvenience?

Will the talk of third or federal front be revived? As the regional forces have their sway, such a possibility is most likely. What will be the impact of spoiler parties in different states?

Can the BJP upset the apple cart in Kerala by emerging as kingmaker? The performance of Vijayakanth and AIUDF is keenly watched. They could alter the fortunes in the volatile states of Tamil Nadu and Assam.
