Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday asked the Union government to call an all-party meeting to discuss ways and means to restore normalcy in the Kashmir Valley.

The Hyderabad MP said the meeting should be called to show empathy following street protests that have claimed 32 lives. The Valley has been in the grip of violence since security forces shot dead a top militant on Friday.

In a series of tweets, Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the Modi government on why it had abandoned the peace process. “Why has the Modi government abandoned the peace process which was started by the Vajpayee government on Kashmir,” he asked. He said Pakistan had no right to interfere in the internal affairs of India. “It is better that they do their own introspection,” said Owaisi.

The MIM leader also found fault with National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for criticising the handling of the situation by the government. Owaisi said Omar Abdullah was clueless and inactive in 2010 when 110 people were killed.
