In an endeavor to create awareness about women empowerment, Starex University celebrated International Women’s Day in the campus today.

Gurgaon: In an endeavor to create awareness about women empowerment, Starex University celebrated International Women’s Day in the campus today.

The event felicitated prominent women from nearby rural areas who have made a valuable contribution to society. The event also held a special session to make women aware of their safety.

On this occasion, Dr. Ashok Diwakar, Vice Chancellor, Starex University said, “In the current scenario, women are at par with men in all spheres of life. We, at Starex University, have given employment to highly qualified women from a rural background so that they can set themselves as an inspiration to other women.” He further added that in the history of India, women had always been given high stature and due respect, but things had changed with time. “We should collective work towards the empowerment of women each and every single day,” he further said.

It may be noted that altogether 25 women – from different social backgrounds – were honored for their work on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the Campus. Rajbala, one of the awardees, shared her experience saying: "I feel very good; it’s a different kind of experience getting respect in front of others. Today the courage in me has the power to inspire courage in other women as well”.

Among those present on the occasion were Registrar Dr. S. L. Vashisht, Assistant Registrar Shri Ram Kumar, and Controller of Examination Shri CS Bhardwaj.

Starex University is due to start its academic courses from June 2017 onwards.

Held on March 8th every year, the International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. The theme for this women’s day ‘Be Bold for Change’ called on the society to take groundbreaking action that truly drives the greatest change for women.
