After the death of CM J. Jayalalitha, the Tamil Nadu politics underwent a serious crisis. For over the decade, Tamil cinema has played an important role in TN Politics. It's impossible to think Tamil Nadu politics without the influence of Tamil Cinema.
Five out of seven chief ministers from Dravidian parties (DMK & AIADMK) were actively involved in Tamil cinema.
Now to fill the political vacuum created by the death of J Jayalalithaa, many Tamilians are hoping that Superstar Rajinikanth will join politics.
After the much awaited question 'why kattappa kill bahubali' now, it is the time for the question, will Rajinikanth join Politics?
But to everyone's surprise Thalaivar himself has answered regarding his political entry. He met his fans for the first time in 8 years in a public event in Chennai. From the punch dialogue from his movie Arunachalam: "Andavan solran. Arunachalam seiran' 'If God willing', I will enter politics tomorrow. If I enter politics, I will be very truthful and will not entertain people who are in this to make money. I won’t work with such people."
On the last day, Rajinikanth has left enough hints for his fans, that he might take a plunge into politics. By asking his supporters to get ready for Ultimate War saying, ”that the system needs to be changed, and the mindset of the Tamil Nadu people has to change."
Rajinikanth faced protests in Chennai from pro-Tamil groups asking him to stay out of politics, and they even burnt effigies of the superstar, as he is Kannadiga and not Tamilian. For which the Thalaivar replied by saying, "I’m 67 years old now, I was in Karnataka only for the first 23 years of my life. I have been living among you for the last 44 years in Tamil Nadu. Hence I am true Tamilian."
