Drone scare at Delhi airport: Air Asia India confirms pilots saw unidentified object on IGI runway
AirAsia India has confirmed that their pilots saw an object resembling a drone flying close to their aircraft following which the flight operations at the Delhi airport were temporarily halted.
AirAsia India has confirmed that their pilots saw an object resembling a drone flying close to their aircraft following which the flight operations at the Delhi airport were temporarily halted.
In a statement released by AirAsia India, they said that the pilots of the flight i5 799, which was travelling from Goa to New Delhi, spotted an unidentified object flying close to the aircraft.
The pilots carried out a normal landing and called upon the Air Traffic Controller after that.
They also informed the Director Flight Operatioms (DFO) and the Head of Corporate and Flight Safety.
The Airlines has filed a report with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Meanwhile, the flight operations at the Delhi airport have now been resumed.
After the operations were brought to a temporary stop, at least two Air India flights were diverted.
Two other flights - G8-175 (LKO-DEL) and 6E-508 (Patna-DEL) - went upto Jaipur, but are now returning to Delhi.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) sources say that the drone was seen at 7:12 p.m. after which the search operation was undertaken.
A clearance to resume the operations was given at 7:55 p.m., the sources add.
Earlier, a team of the CISF, the Delhi Police and the aviation security was rushed to the the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
