Ranchi : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday urged Naxals in Jharkhand to shun violence and surrender.

While addressing an event commemorating Chief Minister Raghubar Das' 1000 days at the office Singh said, "I appeal Maoist leaders to shun violence and surrender. The surrender process will be on fast track case to case basis."

"The Maoist menace will end. Maoists are creating obstacle in the development. I appeal Maoist leaders not to lure youth to wrong path and stop giving weapons to children. No Maoist leader's children have taken up arms," Singh added.

Singh further lauded Das's initiatives catering concerns of the farmers and said "As long as the farmers in Jharkhand don't develop, Jharkhand's dreams won't come true. A programme like Arya was initiated so that the youth are interested in farming even during droughts. Our farmers will earn twice as much as they earn now by 2022," he said.

"Jhakhand Government aims to double the farmers' income by 2022," he added.

Singh also took the occasion to highlight the development and growth of Jharkhand under the leadership of Das.

"Jharkhand is the second largest developing state in the country. People are coming from all over the world to invest in Jharkhand. Jharkhand was 29th in Ease of doing Business list. Now we are 7th,"

Singh also appreciated the toll-free number service initiated by the state government aimed at addressing public grievances.
