Mumbai (Maharashtra) : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, who is in Mumbai, met with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday.

Uddhav Thackeray's son, Aditya Thackeray, was also present during the meet.

The Shiv Sena later said that the meeting was a "courtesy call".

"The meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Uddhav Thackery was just a courtesy call and there was no other meaning to it. Mamata Banerjee is a very strong chief minister of West Bengal," Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande told ANI.

Reportedly, party MP Sanjay Raut recently said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led party had started preparations for the Lok Sabha and assembly polls of 2019 and that the party was ready to contest elections whether or not there was an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
