Hyderabad: Vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu would inaugurate the 10th Urban Mobility India conference, which is aimed at discussing urban transport challenges and solutions at the HICC in the city on Saturday. Addressing the media here on Friday, Secretary in the Municipal Administration Department Navin Mittal along with Union Urban Development Ministry Joint Secretary Mukund Kumar Sinha said that intelligent, inclusive and sustainable mobility was the theme of the conference.

Mittal said that initiatives and experiences of 86 cities including 36 foreign cities would be discussed at the conference. About 1,000 delegates including 150 experts across 25 foreign countries would discuss issues on road safety, transit oriented development and the introduction of tram services in Hyderabad. Two special sessions for mayors and municipal councillors from five southern states would be convened as part of the conference.

Mukund Sinha said that Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would address the inaugural session and MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao would address the valedictory function.

A total of 60 plenary, special and technical sessions will be held over the next three years for a detailed discussion on intelligent transport solutions, inclusive urban transport and sustainable urban transport planning. Hyderabad Metro Rail MD N V S Reddy and A A Rao of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) were also present on the occasion.
