Water from the Tungabhadra dam is likely to be released soon making it a good news for the farmers around the ayacut in Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme as the state will be getting around 3.5 tmc water from the dam for which an indent has already been submitted to the Board.

With the water release controlled by an inter-state Board, the farmers have been demanding the Telangana government to ensure the release of water from Tungabhadra dam.

Water from the dam will be utilized for agriculture under the RDS in Telangana and benefit the Mahabubnagar district farmers.

The non-submission of the water indent by the Andhra Pradesh government has resulted in the release of the water. However, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday contacted his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Devineni Umamaheswara Rao in this regard.

The water from the dam would be released once both the states submit their indents. According to the reports, AP Govt has agreed to submit its water indent of 5.2 tmc, two days after which water would be released.
