New Delhi: The biggest challenge facing the Muslim leadership is to save the composite culture and move ahead from the differences within the community, Congress Minority Cell chief Nadeem Javed said on Saturday.

Speaking at a seminar on 'Has the Muslim leadership failed?', Javed called for unity and said there are various sects within the community of Shia, Sunni, Barelvi etc. and there is a need to resolve the differences and move forward taking all of them together.

Firoz Bakht Ahmed, chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, said there needs to be a focus on education and that is how the perception of the community could be changed.

"We need to focus on education and get over party lines for the welfare of people. That should be the foundation," he added.
