nel2Kavali (Nellore): Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said that the Central government was taking measures to organise Bharat Nirman programmes with an intention to develop the villages as that would lead to the development of the entire country. Inaugurating the 42nd Bharat Nirman and the Public Relations Festival at the American Baptist Missionaries Ground (ABM) in Kavali in the district on Sunday, Anam said that people should make the best use of the programme. He said that the development programme was organized on non-political basis. He called upon the people to involve themselves in social service activities in the district. Anam said that Rs 12,500 crore would be allocated in the next year's budget to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Sub-Plan to uplift the socially backward sections of the society as mentioned in the 20 Point Programme of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He said that the State government was planning to implement the Indira Jala Prabha programme successfully, which would result in providing irrigated water to 10 lakh acres of agricultural land. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Director-General of Press Information Bureau MVVS Murthy outlined the main objectives of the Bharat Nirman programme. MLC V Narayana Reddy, District Marketing Society president Sumantha Reddy, District Cooperative Central Bank Director Dhananjay Reddy and others were present on the occasion. As many as 60 stalls were organized by 50 government departments. A clock that runs on cow's urine was the centre of attraction at the exhibition. The Finance Minister, who visited the stalls, was greatly impressed by the pipe less watering tap made by the students of Lingasamudram Primary School under the aegis of the Department of Environment. He also visited a stall organised by the police department and showed keen interest in examining the weapons. The departments of electricity, horticulture, health, non-conventional energy sources, Indira Kranti Padham and fire departments also displayed their exhibits. The fruits and vegetables stall organized by the department of horticulture attracted large number of people.
