neNellore: The prestigious Dr Biren Roy Space Science and Design Award-2012 has been awarded to G Satheesh Reddy, Outstanding Scientist & Associate Director of Research Centre Imarat (RCI) of DRDO's Missile Complex, Hyderabad, during the International Conference on Regional Transport Aircraft held on the eve of 64th annual general meeting of the Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad on Sunday. The award was conferred on him in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the navigation sciences and aerospace engineering in the country. Minister for Human Resource Development M Pallam Raju, Chairman of GMR Group GM Rao, Director General, DRDO Dr VK Saraswat lauded the efforts of the navigation scientist and awarded a memento, certificate and cash prize of Rs 20,000. The globally renowned navigation scientist has been very recently honoured and inducted as Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), USA which is of rare distinction to our Indian scientists. Satheesh Reddy was born in an agricultural family and belongs to Mahimalore village, Atmakur Mandal of Nellore District. He studied in the Mahimalore village up to 10th class, Intermediate in VR College, Nellore and went on to receive his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, Anantapur.
