Nellore: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said here on Wednesday that private job was better than government employment. He was addressing the beneficiaries of Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu on the last day of three-day Indiramma Baata programme in the district.

Hearing the efforts of the beneficiaries to secure jobs under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu scheme, the chief minister was visibly moved and appreciated their efforts. He said that the talented persons would get better jobs in the private sector.

"In fact, all politicians are in the private sector. People would re-elect them only if they proved their prowess as administrators," the chief minister said. He said that every year 50,000 government employees were retiring and there was a need to recruit employees in their place.

Earlier, the chief minister laid foundation stone for the government medical college and 150-bed hospital to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 310 crore here. He also inaugurated 'Jaladhara' programme which would provided two-litre drinking water for one rupee to the patients.

Addressing the meeting, he said that every district would have a government medical college. "Necessary changes would be incorporated in the Arogyasri to conduct 40 per cent operations in the government hospitals only," he said. Citing the statistics, he said that 4.50 lakh poor people had undergone surgeries worth Rs. 1400 crore during 2011-2012 and most of the operations were conducted in the government hospitals only.

He said that the budget for medicines in the government hospitals has been enhanced to Rs. 400 crore from the earlier Rs. 100 crore but that was not sufficient. Expressing concern over the misuse of medicines in the government hospitals, he said that it would be streamlined.

The medicine distribution would be computerized upto primary health centre-level to prevent misuse, he added. Later, addressing media persons, the minister said that the state government would submit a clarification to the high court on the power tariff hike. "The review meeting on power tariff hike would be held on Thursday evening at Hyderabad," he added.

The proposal to build a Greenfield airport at Nellore was under consideration, he said. Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kondru Murali, Sailajanath and others, Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi were also present.
