Nellore: In a bid to intensify the Samaikyandhra agitation, the electricity employees JAC laid a siege to the house of Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy at Ranganayakulapeta in Nellore on Friday. On receiving information, Nellore town DSP Venkatnath Reddy deployed heavy security arrangements and set up barricades near the Minister’s house. The JAC leaders and armed police had a heated argument for stopping the agitators.
Later, speaking to the media, the electricity employees JAC leaders announced that they will cut the power supply in the town from September 2 and the first connection that will be cut off will be to the Minister’s house. They also said power grid connections to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka States will be cut off as Chidambaram and Veerappa Moily and Anthony were involved in the bifurcation of the State.
Protesting against foiling the hunger strike of YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy at Hyderabad, party cadre led by leaders Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav and Sridhar Reddy held a rasta roko at VR College Centre in Nellore town. The Fourth Town police arrested the leaders for causing inconvenience to the people. Tension prevailed at the police station when the party leaders and Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy criticised the police and CI.
Employees of all welfare departments took out a maha rally. Similarly, irrigation department employees JAC took out a protest rally. Later, they cleansed the statue of Potti Sriramulu with milk at Atmakur bus stand and organised a rasta roko.
