Nirmal: ‘Swamy Sharanam Ayyappa’ chants rent the air at Kadthal village in the Sone Godavari bank as Ayyappa devotees organised ‘Arattu’ festival on a grand scale in the local temple here on Monday.
They performed ‘abhishekam’, after specially decorating the Lord’s idol, after holding ‘unjal seva’, bhajan. They took out the idol in a decorated palanquin in the streets, with women offering ‘mangala harati’.
Ayyappa swamulu walked for eight km carrying the palanquin containing the Ustav idols. Temple Guruswamy Narsa Reddy and Bhaskar Pantulu supervised the Theppostavam in the Godavari, amid chanting of vedic hymns.
They performed ‘abhishekam’ with ‘panchamrutam’. The event concluded with ‘annadanam’ for the Ayyappa swamulu and devotees.
Later Narsa Reddy told press persons that all arrangements have made for the grand silver jubilee celebrations of the Ayyappa temple from December 15.
Idols of Vigneswara, Subramanya Swami, Ayyappa, Panchamuki Hanuman, Siva Lingam and Balipeetam have been installed on the river bank for the benefit of visiting devotees.
