There is a saying Annadatha sukhibhava (Let the food donors live in happiness and prosperity) in Telugu. In order to end the pangs of hunger for a few people at least for one day, two persons among the youth came together and decided to distribute food free of cost in the district.

They have decided to set up a food bank in the district headquarters.

Going into details, Naveen, who is working as an Assistant Engineer in the Electricity Department at Aryanagar in the town told one of his friends that he wanted to set-up a food bank to feed the orphans and destitutes for one day in the city and requested to cooperate.

When his friend readily agreed to the proposal, they established a food bank on February, 2016 and also uploaded their activities on the Facebook. They said that they were deriving lot of satisfaction in doing so.

With their activities picking up publicity through the social media, several people came forward to extend financial help for the noble cause and their team members rose to 220.

Evan retired employees joined their team. Earlier, they sued to feed 30 people on every Sunday but now they are in a position to feed 450 people.

Food is cooked in Naveen’s house in the city every Sunday and the activities start form 5 AM.

The members of the Food Bank visit bus stands, railway stations and various temples in the city to distribute food to the poor. They distribute biscuit packets, bread, eggs and bananas. Apart from Sundays, they also distribute food on festival days of Deepavali and Ramzan.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Naveen, the food organiser said that they were also taking steps to distribute food not only in Nizamabad but also in Karimnagar, Khammam, Siddipet, Sattupalli, Warangal and Hyderabad cities.

He said that he derived inspiration to distribute food after seeing an elderly person distributing food in Hyderabad.
