Li catches media eye

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang caught the media eye by his conduct, which is so unlike a typical Communist leader. Li was communicative and expressive and he transformed before the cameras, giving expressive visuals, while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took care not to betray any emotion. Perhaps, he was aware that if only he had shown warmth, the BJP would target him for being cordial with those responsible for incursions! Like when External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid hosted a private lunch as normal courtesy at Jaipur to visiting Pakistan Prime Minister on his visit to Ajmer, Mod said the Congress offered chicken biryani to those, who beheaded Indian jawans. Chinese Premier Li made a gesture of meeting the family of Dr Dwarakanath Kotnis, who led a medical team and served the Chinese people, when invaded by the Japanese in 1937, during the outbreak of plague and himself succumbed to it. Li described Dr Kotnis as the symbol of Sino-Indian relations. V Shantaram immortalised his life on the celluloid through his film, Dr Kotnis ki Amar Kahani, playing the title role himself.
