Tirupati: The annual Pushpa Yagam would be conducted in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams-run temple of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy at Srinivasa Mangapuram near here on April 5, on the same lines as on the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.

Tones of flowers of different hues and fragrances would be showered on the processional deities during the fete, which would start from 2.30 pm and continue till evening. The Yagam was being conducted at this temple since four years. After conducting Snanapana Tirumanjanam, the Yagam will commence with homam and Aradhana. After these rituals the Yagam will start.

The objective behind the Yagam is to seek the pardon of the Lord for acts of omissions and commissions inadvertently committed during the annually held Brahmothsavams. This festival is usually conducted on Sravana Nakshatram day, the birth star of Lord Venkateswara. Nearly five tonnes of flowers including marigold, rose, jasmine, lotus and the like will be used in the Pushpa Yagam. Six types of leaves also will be included in the Yagam. Already five tonnes of flowers have reached TTD Garden Department. The temple has been decorated with special flowers.

Devotees desirous of participating in the Pushpa Yagam can buy the prescribed ticket priced at Rs 500 on which two will be allowed and prasadams offered.
