Displaying their all-round skills to the fullest, Ashwin Cricket Academy dethroned the champions to annex the 3rd Pongal Trophy in the Under-17 cricket tournament organised by Noble Cricket Club at Quli Qutb Shah Stadium. 

Hyderabad: Displaying their all-round skills to the fullest, Ashwin Cricket Academy dethroned the champions to annex the 3rd Pongal Trophy in the Under-17 cricket tournament organised by Noble Cricket Club at Quli Qutb Shah Stadium.

Continuing their impressive form, they recorded a comprehensive eight-wicket win over the host Noble Cricket Club in the final. After restricting Noble Cricket Club for 122 for the loss of eight wickets, thanks to three-wicket spells by bowler of the tournament Akhil and Durgesh, Ashwin Cricket Academy accomplished the target with eight wickets and 45 balls to spare.

The runner-up outfit had consolation in the form of its players bagging four individual awards. They included captain Mohammed Abdul Raoof (spirit of cricket), Mohul Bhowmick (player of the tournament), Ashwin Nayak (batsman) and Rohan (fielder).

Later, Mohammed Farooq, President of the host club and Executive Committee member of HCA, gave away the prizes. Faheemuddin Khaja, Principal of Crescent Model English School and veteran coach Syed Shaheen graced the occasion.
