Harshita wins Telangana State Open Regatta

Hyderabad: Harshita Tomar of National Sailing School, Bhopal clinched the inaugural Telangana State Open Regatta at Yacht Club of Hyderabad here on Wednesday. Harshita won the last race and came in 5th in the penultimate race despite being pushed off-the-line by Navyn Prabhakar. Chitresh Thata of Tamil Nadu had to rest with a bronze behind her statemate Navyn Prabhakar who won the silver.

Local lad Kankatla Gautam of Yacht Club of Hyderabad who was in third behind Durga Prasad and Juhi Desai, rose to the occasion. He clocked in a few good races to claim the Telangana State Championship Trophy with a final tally of 84 points. pushing Durga Prasad and Juhi Desai.

RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, Telangana State Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS), Lt Gen KS Rao, President, Telangana Sailing Association and Prof Shantha Sinha gave away the prizes.
