Mumbai: Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene will be the new head coach for Mumbai Indians, beginning with the 2017 season. His appointment comes in the wake of Ricky Pointing’s two-year contract having come to a close.

Jayawardene said "I am looking forward to working with a really talented squad, all the support staff, and the owners to help strengthen the two-time IPL champions.”
