fm2 Srikakulam: Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Dr Killi Kruparani and State Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasada Rao inaugurated the AIR FM relay station here on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said the FM relay station should be developed into a full-fledged production centre. Though the relay centre was sanctioned in 2006 and infrastructure and civil works and other basic facilities were ready by 2007, the station was delayed due to non-receipt of equipment. She said she had taken up the issue with Union Minister Ambika Soni. Dr Kruparani said there were 25 FM relay stations in the State. Recently, a relay station was inaugurated at Kakinada in East Godavari district. A similar station would be opened at Mahabubnagar, she said. A Regional News Centre would be set up in Visakhapatnam.A Mr Prasada Rao said the FM relay station should be developed into a complete production centre with all services. It would receive assistance of the State government. While 'Kala Praveena' Bandaru Chittibabu troupe gave a classical music concert, a group from Dusi village performed 'Tappetagullu' folk dance. District Cooperative Central Bank chairman Dola Jaganmohan Rao, AIR Additional Director-General (Engineering � Chennai) SK Agarwal, AD-General (Programmes � South) G Jailal, AD-General (M&C � New Delhi) AR Shaik, Visakhapatnam AIR director R Harshalatha and others attended.
