35 pc adults own tablet

According to the study by the Pew Research Center, just 41 per cent adults carried a phone-only portable device, down from 48 % two years back, the New York Post reported.

The age group 18 to 29 years had the highest percentage of ownership of smartphones at 90 per cent, compared to just 43 per cent of seniors.Nearly 35 % adults have a tablet, while 24 per cent own an e-reader.

The study also found that about 67 % cell owners checked their phone for messages, alerts or calls even when their phones didn't ring or vibrate.
