A new city can be easily intimidating with its labyrinthine lanes and street names. To add to the misery, if you do not have a friend living a stone’s throw away, you’re left to find your moorings. If only there was an app for this dilemma. This is good news to all those lost in new cities and towns, unable to find the nearest convenience store or pharmacy.

Apps such as Urbanclap, TimesSaverz and PepperTap are here to help you find the nearest ATM, stores, pharmacies, plumber and dry cleaner. With just a click, you can now get fresh fruits and vegetables delivered at your doorstep and get connected to the most efficient service provider through these apps.

TimesSaverz helps you get in touch with home services that offer all kinds of cleaning and repair services. PepperTap, that came into the market in November 2014, offers an exhaustive list of grocery items that you can select and have delivered at your doorstep. Though presently, the services are available only in Gurgaon and provide highly competitive rates and a transparent return policy, they are soon to come to other cities as well. It is India’s first on-demand service and brings several services at your doorstep.

"The daily struggles of grocery shopping used to kill my family time, especially during the weekend. I had always wished for a solution wherein a chore like grocery shopping could be done for me," PepperTap co-founder Navneet Singh told IANS. Smartphone users can now place their orders through the app and have the product delivered within a few hours. These apps are available both for Android and iOS platforms

The venture raised ‘Series A’ funds of 60 crore ruppes from Sequoia Capital and SAIF Partners. "The funding will be leveraged for expanding the reach of PepperTap to 10 more cities by the end of the year," said Navneet Singh, who wants to cover all cities in India through PepperTap.

Debadutta Upadhyaya, CEO and co-founder of TimeSaverz, founded two years ago, said: "It is a combination of personal experience around the struggle for getting the right help for the right price at the right time in the metros, more so if you are a nuclear working couple family, without any support system."

TimeSaverz provides services in Pune, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Each agent is selected only after a thorough background check, who will provide services either at market rates or below. UrbanClap, a Delhi-based startup, brings to users professional services like interior decoration, photography, event management and the works. So whether you are looking to give your home a facelift, get a candid snap at a wedding or are planning to throw your child a grand birthday party, an app is all you need access to.

"Painful memories from the past, finding a guitar teacher, a home designer, tailor, wedding decorator, a house broker motivated us to launch UrbanClap," Varun Khaitan, co-founder of UrbanClap, told IANS. The founders claim that it is the simplest way to reach out and hire trusted service providers.
