KCR: Don’t Send Students on Non-Study ToursHyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed officials not to allow pleasure trips by students against norms. On Tuesday, he reviewed with the officials of Higher Education the tragic situation in Beas river in Himachal Pradesh, where 24 engineering students were washed away in gushing waters. He enquired with the officials whether any guidelines were actually framed on study tours or other trips.

“No private college shall allow students to go for any trip in the name of study tour. No college shall arrange any tour in violation of rules. The responsibility rests with the managements of the college and the university concerned should keep a tab on such tours,” KCR reportedly made it clear to the officials.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, who is coordinating rescue and search operations in Himachal Pradesh, said police cases would be slapped on the VNR Vignan Jyothy College for what he termed “irresponsible act of allowing second year engineering students to go on excursion.”
