Hyderabad: The recent developments in the concerned matter shows that in spite of strong lobbying by private medical colleges with the Telangana government the chances for a separate medical entrance test for private colleges this year are practically almost void. However, according to some of the officials as the decision of Telangana government goes in contradictory to the Supreme Court’s decision, which has directed the government to allow the test. Conversely, the Telangana government is powerfully opposed to the idea of a separate test.

In its verdict, the Apex Court had directed the Telangana government to allow a separate entrance test exclusively for private medical colleges after forming a consortium, which would have to be recognised by the government. Nevertheless, the Telangana government is opposed to the idea though the consortium has been formed and recognised.

According to sources, KCR, the Telangana Chief Minister, opposed the proposal of a separate private medical entrance test. One of the Deputy Chief Ministers, Dr T. Rajaiah, has downright said the government will not allow a private medical entrance test. However, senior officials say that it will be difficult to execute this decision after the SC ruling and they would consider filing a review petition.
