600 T people stuck in Iraq

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is taking all steps to ensure safety of around 600-odd Telangana natives living in strife-torn Iraq, Deputy Chief Minister Mohmmad Mehmood Ali said here on Wednesday. He informed that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was in regular touch with the Central government on this issue.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Ali stated that senior officials were constantly in touch with the ministry of external affairs and were gathering information about those from Telangana feared trapped in Iraq. The government had so far identified 600 workers from Telangana, he added.

Meanwhile, IT minister K Tarakarama Rao said the government would take all necessary steps to safely bring back the Telangana natives. The government had already opened a helpline in Secretariat with numbers- (040)23220603 and 94408- 54433. It also asked all Collectors to collect details like passport numbers, address in Iraq and contact numbers so that the State govt could get in touch with them.
