Party MLCs –- KR Amos, B Bhanuprasad, N Rajalingam , V Bhupal Reddy and Jagadishwar Reddy switched loyalties to the TRS in the presence of Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday.

TPCC Chief P Lakshmaiah held a meeting with party leaders, including the party floor leader in the Legislative Council D Srinivas, here and took stock of the situation in the party. He also elicited the opinion of the leaders on taking action against the MLCs who quit the Congress.

The PCC Chief said a petition would be submitted to the Legislative Council Chairman N Vidyasagar Rao seeking the disqualification of the five MLCs on Saturday. Party leaders said the high command also gave green signal to the TPCC to act upon the legislators. The TPCC felt that the MLCs would go scot free, if the party failed to lodge a complaint before the TRS' attempt to replace the present Council Chairman with its party member by encouraging defections in the Congress. Once the TRS secured enough numbers to elect its own Chairman, the action on the five MLCs would be ruled out, the leaders pointed out.
