He also felt that the method being used to fix the MSP (minimum support price) for the last few years was not ensuring justice to farmers. The Minister reviewed the functioning of the Civil Supplies Department with Joint Collectors and Civil Supply Officers from 10 districts of the State, here on Friday. Civil Supplies Commissioner C Parthasarathi, MD Anil Kumar, FCI and oil company representatives also took part.

Outlining his government's vision, Rajender called upon the district officials to work on a scientific and better method to fix minimum support price for farm produce. He also discussed with them steps for procurement of paddy and the existing facilities in warehouses for storage of agriculture produce.

“The fact that the governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh promised loan waiver for farmers was itself a reflection of the fact that Telugu farmers are in distress,” he stated.

Rajender also asked the officials to ensure that the government schemes reach actual beneficiaries. He made a mention of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's speech in Assembly about how white ration cards exceeded total number of families in the State.

“The irregularities committed by previous regimes in unified State should be set right. Real beneficiaries should not suffer in the drive to weed out bogus ration cards,” he said. The Minister also sought details of beneficiaries of Deepam Scheme and requirement for LPG gas connections in all the districts.

Waive CST between T and AP

Meanwhile, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) urged Etela Rajender to waive off Central Sales Tax (CST) on trade between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States.

The FAPCCI president Shiv Kumar Rungta and senior vice-president Anil Reddy Vennam called on the Minister and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
They appealed to him to initiate an early dialogue with AP government on this vital issue in order to safeguard the interests of Trade and Industry.
