KTRHyderabad: A day after hearing to the troubles faced by the techies, Telangana IT Minister KT Ramarao on Saturday asked the IT officials to work out an action plan to see that Hyderabad emerges as a better leisure destination than Bangalore.

According to KTR, though Hyderabad is considered best for tech start-ups, Bangalore is at an advantage due to leisure spots and events there. Hence, the IT Minister asked the officials to come up with an initiative "52 weeks, 52 events", aimed to attract cosmopolitan crowd, particularly techies from all over the country. "I want to get the popular Goa music festival Sunburn to Hyderabad and I have started talking to event organisers regarding this," he said. Telangana government, he said, was willing to take every step possible to bring back the city's lost glory.

Hyderabad, an old IT centre in India along with Bangalore, is currently home to about 1,000 companies, (not startups) having a revenue of Rs 70,000 crore. He promised to address all the major problems of the IT industry in Hyderabad as soon as possible. Through his concept "TASK" (Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge) students would be trained to become industry-ready graduates.

IT industry players and associations would be engaged for this purpose, he said. Talking about the benefits and tax exemptions being given by the union government for startup companies in Andhra region, KTR promised that Hyderabad would be receiving enough benefits for startups and expressed the Government of Telangana's commitment for development.
