Both States at loggerheads again; Dy Speakers of AP, T in one room! Deputy Speakers of both states – Mandali Buddha Prasad of Andhra Pradesh and Padma Devender Reddy of Telangana – have been allotted common office chambers inviting flak from political quarters.

Padma Devender Reddy of Telangana Dy SpeakarHyderabad: The ongoing cold war between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments regarding various issues like power, sharing of river water, fee reimbursement, law and order in Hyderabad has now spread even to legislatures.

Deputy Speakers of both states – Mandali Buddha Prasad of Andhra Pradesh and Padma Devender Reddy of Telangana – have been allotted common office chambers inviting flak from political quarters. The Secretaries of both the Assemblies appear to have taken decisions to allot rooms without consulting each other.

While the AP legislature secretary K Satyanrayana Rao on July 14 issued a letter stating that rooms G4 and G5 in Old Assembly Building were allotted to Buddha Prasad, the Telangana Legislature secretary on Friday issued a letter allotting the same room to Padma Devender.

Mandali Buddha Prasad of Andhra Pradesh Dy SpeakarWhile the AP Assembly officials expressed their dismay over the decision of the T Assembly Secretary, officials of the T Assembly said that they had allotted the room to their Deputy Speaker since she had occupied it during the last Assembly session that was held between June 9 and 14. The AP Assembly officials did not bother to check with them before allotting the room, they said. “This is an unfair and unreasonable act on the part of the AP assembly,” an official remarked. It is said that the issue of allotment of room did not figure even in the meeting the two Speakers had recently to sort out certain problems, the sources said.

On the other hand, the legislature party offices of Congress and TRS have been swapped by the Assembly secretariat. The previous CLP office with six rooms will hereafter function as the TRSLP office. The Congress, which is left with 21 MLAs in Telangana Assembly will have to be content with two rooms on the first floor.

Rooms-7, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 17 to 32 in New Assembly building will function as Telangana ministers chambers. The interesting thing in this allotments is BSP, whose two MLAs have shifted loyalties towards TRS, were also allotted a party office (room number-4) in New Assembly building.
