Ever since Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Raoannounced his plans to set up a 2,000-acre state-of-the-art film city in Hyderabad, tongues haven't stopped wagging.
While the film federation employees are thrilled about the announcement, those who are closely following the developments are seeing a hidden plan in KCR's decision.
It's a known fact that Ramoji Film City is one of the major landmarks in Hyderabad. Not just Telugu film, but even Hollywood movies are shot here and thus RFC has put Hyderabad on the world map. But the hitch is that Ramoji hails from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.
So Obviously, KCR doesn't want to encourage any revenue to his studio anymore. The announcement has also dispelled fears that the film industry will move to another city. However, many see this film city as a tough competition to RFC. KCR's plan is to establish a maasive film city on the lines of Hollywood so it can earn revenue from tourists as well as film-makers.
Does it mean this will be a major threat to Ramoji Rao? Wonder what Rao will do now to counter KCR's master plan.
