Srisailam/Atmakur: Five of the 12 radial gates of the Srisailam reservoir were lifted by ten feet on Wednesday after it attained the full reservoir level (FRL) of 885 ft, following heavy inflows from the Jurala project and Tungabhadra dam.

The reservoir’s capacity touched 215.8070 tmc. It received 139,732 cusecs from the Jurala project and 53,768 cusecs from the Tungabhadra reservoir. About 225,854 cusecs is being released downstream to the Nagarjuna Sagar project.

With the Srisailam reservoir level reaching the maximum, power is being produced by 13 generators attached to the right and left bank canals. As much as 38.059 mw has been produced so far.

Breaches to SRM Canal
Meanwhile, breaches have developed on the left side of the Srisailam right bank main canal (SRMC) resulting in the loss of thousands of cusecs. Consequently, water supply is being cut to the backwater SRMC ramps.

On Wednesday there were 50 breaches, including 20 huge ones, in the SRMC between 5 km and ten km area on the border of Atmakur and Nandikotkur constituencies. There is no fall in the level in the Srisailam backwaters although the reservoir gates have been lifted.
