TPCC chief says people regret voting TRS to power

TPCC President Ponnala LakshmaiahHyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Friday described the political manoeuvres of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as self destructive. He termed this as “the beginning of the end of the ruling party”, as poaching of MLAs of other party would only add to demoralisation of several of his own associates.

Speaking to media persons here at Gandhi Bhavan, the TPCC president said the countdown for the TRS government had already started, as KCR was more interested in poaching the leaders of other parties. Besides encouraging other party MLAs to join his party, he was also providing them berth in the Ministry, he said adding that this would only boomerang in the coming days, as the dedicated workers in the party would be discouraged further. Recalling the various schemes the Chief Minister had promised for implementation, Ponnala questioned the feasibility as it requires at least Rs 5 lakh crore for their execution.

He noted that even though people were deceived during the election, for the last three months they had been regretting for voting the TRS to power. The TPCC president noted that about 160 farmers died during the last three months, including several farmers in his constituency of Gajwel. “People are blaming the government for the delay in taking a decision on loan waiver, as KCR is continuously trying to reduce the government assistance, which he promised. From excuse of gold loans to bonds, all the announcements had only increased anxiety of farmers,” he said.

Ponnala alleged that the ‘Household Survey’ was intended for scrapping various welfare schemes the Congress government had initiated. Rather than ensuring the farmers their due, KCR had completely shifted his focus on increasing political strength, he added.
