Thousands of families who had bought plots and built houses in Hyderabad are in a trouble as the Telangana state government erecting notice boards proclaiming the lands as public property. According to sources, the said lands are those lands which have been taken by the government under Urban Land Ceiling.

As far as the Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act, aimed to prevent concentration of lands in the hands of few people, is concerned, it has set a limit of 1500 sq.mt. of land for individuals in Hyderabad area.

Nevertheless, the land holders with a great land extent have sold the excess land to the third parties. They in turn made fake layouts and sold it to individual buyers over the years in the form of plots. According to sources, in Shaikpet Mandal alone, several such houses have come up in over one lakh square yards in Jai Hind Colony, Vinayak Nagar, Alamira and other colonies. In Vinobha Nagar, which is completely government land, over 1,500 houses have been constructed.

The buyers of such lands are now facing the problems as there is no other option is left with them.
