Khammam: District SP A V Ranganath on Wednesday said that HD CCTV cameras should be installed at educational institutions, shopping malls, private hospitals, commercial complexes, restaurants, sports complexes, banks, chit fund companies, places of worship, jewellery shops, industries, bus stand and railway station following AP Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act-2013.

In a press release, the SP appealed to people to extend cooperation to the police to control crimes and thefts in the district. He said CCTV cameras should be installed in such a manner that they would be able to capture pictures at parking places, the entrances and the entire area inside shopping complexes. He suggested that CCTV cameras with high resolution and containing alarm set should be installed and it should be ensured that they function regularly. They should have facility to store the pictures for at least one month. An alternative storage system should also be kept at a confidential place, the SP said.

Ranganath said that the CCTV cameras should be installed at all public places before October 23. He said the district police would conduct a special drive from October 24 and carry out inspections.

The SP said legal action would be taken against those who failed to install the CCTV cameras before the specified period.
