Cyclone to weaken into depression at 11 am today

Hyderabad: Following the severe cyclonic storm Hudhud that hit Visakhapatanam on Sunday, Northern Telangana districts will receive heavy to isolated showers over the next two days. Hudhud is moving in west-northwest direction to weaken into a depression around 11 am on Monday, the weather office said here on Sunday.

According to K Sitaram, a scientist at Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, the cloud cover that was condensed over the three North Andhra districts initially would spread over Coastal Andhra and North Telangana districts in the next two days. As a result, showers are expected in Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak districts.


Even a few districts in South Telangana might witness scattered rains in some parts, he said. Hyderabad woxuld not be affected by the cyclone but the possibility of occasional showers are not ruled out.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had already directed revenue and disaster management departments to take all necessary steps in view of heavy rains forecast for a few districts. He asked the ministers hailing from the districts concerned to stay put in district headquarters to take required measures.

Further, the Telangana government established control rooms in districts for the convenience of the public.
