Hyderabad: The Telangana government is determined to end the nexus between private educational institutions and Board of Intermediate Education.

Stating this in a reply to a question in the State Assembly during Question Hour on Tuesday, Education Minister Jagadish Reddy alleged that some private educational institutions run by Seemandhra investors had strong influence over Board of Intermediate Education. He said some officials had been trying to break the system in order to benefit private institutions. However, he said the government would take immediate measures to end the nexus. He said despite bifurcation, the Telangana government was finding it difficult to release separate schedules for intermediate examinations. Earlier, the Minister denied any irregularities in the Telugu Akademy. Answering a question raised by Congress MLA Ch Vamshichand Reddy, he informed that the Telugu Akademy was purchasing papers by tender notification.

“For the academic year 2013-14, white paper cost is Rs 51,700 per ton. Multi-colour printing cost is increased from 45 paise to 75 paise per paper,” he said.

For the academic year 2014-15, all Telugu medium 1st year intermediate books have been published and distributed in time. After the receipt of syllabus, the Telugu Akademi has published books pertaining to Social Studies. He also admitted that some private publishers were making a killing as Telugu Akademi books had no copyrights.
