Hyderabad: A day after 20-year-old Harshavardhan Rao was brutally murdered by a rival student during a group clash at Pragati Maha Vidyalaya Degree College at Koti, violence resumed on the campus on Sunday with a mob barging into the premises and vandalising property.

A group of people including guardians, students, youth leaders and outsiders barged into the college and vandalised property, apparently protesting against the killing of Harshavardhan Rao. Harshavardhan Rao, 20, a second year B Com student of the college was knocked down with a fatal blow by Satish Kodkar, a final year student of the same college on Saturday evening.

The protest began after the agitators carried the dead body of the victim to the college and demanded action against the college management. The angry mob then took the body in a procession and staged a road blockade along with the body.

Hundreds of people thronged the college premises when the ambulance carrying Harshavardhan's body arrived around 2.30 pm.

Around 250 students broke benches, smashed car windows and office furniture. A few private vehicles were also damaged when stones were thrown at them. The protestors even vandalised the principal's office. However, principal, TV Rao, was not available for comments.

Fearing a flare-up, police had to intervene and persuade the protesters to disperse without creating much damage. No arrests have been made.
